Metaraminol

Mechanism of action

Used mainly as a peripheral vasopressor.
Sympathomimetic agent acting on alpha (predominantly) and beta adrenoreceptors, increasing heart rate, myocardial contraction and blood pressure.

Onset: 1-2 minutes

Duration: 20-60 minutes

Half-life of elimination: minutes

Directions for administration

Dilute in 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose. Suggested volume ranges from 20-500 ml.

Can be administered via peripheral venous catheter.

Medicinal forms

1 vial = 2.5 mg in 5 ml (0.5 mg in 1 ml)
