Prasugrel

Mechanism of action

Antiplatelet agent.

Irreversible P2Y12 receptor antagonists (ADP receptor inhibitor) and hence inhibiting platelet activation and aggregation.

Requires 1 step of bioactivation.

Contraindicated in patients with history of TIA or stroke, and in patients with severe liver failure.

Pharmacokinetics

Onset of action: 30 minutes - 2 hours

Offset of effect: 5-10 days

Excretion: 67% Urine and 28% Feces

1 tablet = 5, 10 mg
