Mechanism of action

Anti-inflammatory agent.

Intracellular disruption of tubulin leads to reduce of depolymerisation of microtubules, thus reduced cell motility and decreased migration of neutrophils.
Secondly colchicine causes destruction of the inflammasome complex inside of the monocytes and neutrophils and interferes with many other pathways important in the process of inflammation.

Onset of action: 12 hours

Half-life of elimination: 20–40 hours

Metabolism: Hepatic

Elimination: Liver, Kidneys (10–20 %)

Directions for administration

Swallow tablet with a glass of water. 

Reduce the dose by 50 % in patients with renal impairment.
